ZEITGESCHICHTEN gatherings mit Rosalyn D’Mello und Elizabeth A. Povinelli

Als komplementäre Veranstaltungsreihe zur Ausstellung ZEITGESCHICHTEN bringen die ZEITGESCHICHTEN gatherings Denker_innen verschiedener Disziplinen und Perspektiven zusammen, um über mehrere Monate hinweg Zeitvorstellungen und Modi zeitlicher Erfahrungen zu diskutieren. Im Zentrum stehen dabei zum einen Alternativen zum linearen Zeitkonzept und dem ihm innewohnenden Fortschrittsgedanken, zum anderen die Diskussion darüber, wie die Logik von Linearität und Zeitnormierung eingesetzt wird, um Gleichheit, soziale und ökologische Gerechtigkeit zu verhindern. Was wäre, wenn wir anerkennen würden, dass es immer ein Dort im Hier und ein Dann im Jetzt gibt? Könnten wir „kal“[1] leben, wenn gestern morgen ist, und „hāl“ [2], wenn die Gegenwart mit der Stimmung des Augenblicks verschmilzt? Und würde diese erweiterte Gegenwart es ermöglichen, verheerende Vorstellungen von Fortschritt durch ein Paradigma der Regeneration zu ersetzen?

Rosalyn D’Mello (Feministische Autorin, Kunstkritikerin, Kolumnistin, Essayistin, Redakteurin und Forscherin): Milking Time
Originally written during snatches of “found” time over a seven-day span in January 2023, Milking Time has since grown into a fleshy, messy meditation on immigrant maternal time. Handwritten with a LAMY ink pen and borrowed stationary, the durational work, commissioned by Camera Austria, has grown into an urgent search mission; an attempt to recover the hours D’Mello does not even have as the mother of a toddler and as a person struggling to earn a living and “make” home in bilingual South Tyrol. Milking Time embodies an intersectional feminist approach to writing. It is invested in theorizing lived experience while retrieving maternal subjectivity from the all-consuming shadow of motherwork, in the absence of the mythical “village”. At its very tangled core, it questions what it might mean to be timely and to have time while embracing the fringes of the mainstream.

Tense, Aspect and the Mood of Love talk reflects on Povinelli’s approach to love in her 2002 monograph, The Empire of Love, in the wakes of geontopower. If love is the affective experience of a form of liberal power rather than an universal affect, how can we read contemporary “love” as the immanent shape of climatic power?
